Quotes by Peter Drucker

We now accept the fact that learning is a lifelong process of keeping abreast of change. And the most pressing task is to teach people how to learn.

Peter Drucker

Management is doing things right; leadership is doing the right things.

Peter Drucker

Management by objectives works if you first think through your objectives. Ninety percent of the time you haven't.

Peter Drucker

Effective leadership is not about making speeches or being liked; leadership is defined by results not attributes.

Peter Drucker

The most important thing in communication is to hear what isn't being said.

Peter Drucker

The computer is a moron.

Peter Drucker

Plans are only good intentions unless they immediately degenerate into hard work.

Peter Drucker

Quality in a product or service is not what the supplier puts in. It is what the customer gets out and is willing to pay for. A product is not quality because it is hard to make and costs a lot of money, as manufacturers typically believe. This is incompetence. Customers pay only for what is of use to them and gives them value. Nothing else constitutes quality.

Peter Drucker

So much of what we call management consists in making it difficult for people to work.

Peter Drucker

There is nothing so useless as doing efficiently that which should not be done at all.

Peter Drucker

"Management" means, in the last analysis, the substitution of thought for brawn and muscle, of knowledge for folklore and superstition, and of cooperation for force

Peter Drucker

New Words - Artsy
Artsy:
Used as an adjective which means overly artistic. When the letter 'y' is added to the compound arts 'y' takes the meaning "of". We see this evolution in many words in the recent past.

# 3 Words and their stories

With the advent of technology, the English language vocabulary is evolving like no other. Words that are currently added or are beig used in the English language were unheard of in the recent past.
Just to look at a two of them, here are:
bazillion: words ending in -illion like zillion and bazillion are ficticious names representing very large numbers.
nip and tuck: used as an adjective to indicate a close contest e.g. neck to neck or as a noun in which skin is removed to make one look young e.g a facelift.

Thought I was done learning stuff when I graduated from high school, then I thought university would do it. Yeah the saying is true "Every day you learn something new"

The Food Conspiracy

In this age in time “Food Shortage”
I’m appalled by this fiasco.
Which leads me to think of the ramifications.
Some of the interesting facts that can be observed here are.
1. Alcohol is being added to gasoline
2. Alcohol is produced from staple foods
3. Alcohol is becoming relatively cheaper to produce than gasoline at $ 200 a barrel at pre crisis rates
4. Alcohol can also be produced by GM staple foods
This leads to a number of questions.
a. Alcohol is being added to gasoline, is it to make a cleaner fuel or cheaper alternative? The question is, is either true?
b. With hunger not being eradicated from this world even in the 21st century is it a wise choice to use staple foods to run the gas guzzlers?
c. Now that the niche has been created for alcohol use in the automobile industry and it being politically correct we can comfortably rationalize our actions and it becomes OK to create more hungry people in the world. Is this what we want? Or is this what was being strategically planned?
d. So now that you dont have a choice the easiest alternative is to mass produce GM foods and I am sure we will deal with the consequences when we come to it, because now we have a bigger problem at hand and this is a reasonable alteranitive. Is this what we are working towards?
e. Not to mention all the precious rain forests that can now be easily converted into GM farms. We need staple food not only to live but also to drive. Is this what we want to do?
This begs the question isint it time to bring out the alternative technologies for transport….. or time to spent your resources in that direction rather than solving the food crisis that has been engineered and leave the earth barren for the future generations. So golbal warming will now be a lesser threat than we thought of.
#1 Saturn Moon May Have Water

Radar images from the Cassini-Huygens mission reinforce predictions that a reservoir of liquid water exists beneath the thick crust of ice.
If confirmed, it would mean that Titan has two of the key components for life - water and organic molecules.
Currently, three other Solar System objects are suspected of having deep oceans: Ganymede, Callisto and Europa.

Lyrics - Everything - Michael Buble

You're a falling star, You're the get away car.
You're the line in the sand when I go too far.
You're the swimming pool, on an August day.
And you're the perfect thing to say.

And you play it coy, but it's kinda cute.
Ah, When you smile at me you know exactly what you do.
Baby don't pretend, that you don't know it's true.
Cause you can see it when I look at you.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

You're a carousel, you're a wishing well,
And you light me up, when you ring my bell.
You're a mystery, you're from outer space,
You're every minute of my everyday.

And I can't believe, uh that I'm your man,
And I get to kiss you baby just because I can.
Whatever comes our way, ah we'll see it through,
And you know that's what our love can do.

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La

[Chorus:]
And in this crazy life, and through these crazy times
It's you, it's you, You make me sing.
You're every line, you're every word, you're everything.
You're every song, and I sing along.
'Cause you're my everything.
Yeah, yeah

So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
So, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La, La
I almost said I love you
Could I really be that kind of guy
See one candle burning in your eye
And watch my heart fill up with butterflies
I almost said I need you
Girl I shouldn't go there anymore
Act like I never been in love before
You probably think it's my first time
Is this what love's all about
Am I getting in too deep
Wouldn't want to freak you out
Make a promise I can't keep

So close your eyes and hum along
And I'll sing you one more love song
If everything is still alright
Why don't you just crash here tonight

Close your eyes and hum along
And I'll sing you one more love song
If everything is still alright
Why don't you just crash here tonight

Girl if everything is still alright
Why don't you just crash here tonight
Lyrics - Bad timing - Blue Rodeo

Hey it's me what a big surprise
Calling you up from a restaurant
Around the bend
I just got in from way up North
I'm aching tired now
And I could use a friend
I might be a fool
To think that you do
Want to see me again
It's been awhile since I talked to you
Nothing wrong
Just nothing ever goes as planned
Many times I thought I'd call
I didn't have your number in my hand
I know it's true
You'd never do
The same thing to me
I never meant to make you cry
And though I know I shouldn't call
It just reminds us of the cost
Of everything we've lost
Bad timing that's all
Maybe soon there'll come a day
When no more tears will fall
If we each forgive a little bit
And we both look back on it
As just bad timing that's all
We used to have so many plans
Something always seemed to turn out wrong
I never could catch up to you
Moving on and doing what you've done
I don't know why
The harder I try
The harder it comes
I never meant to make you cry
And though I know I shouldn't call
It just reminds us of the cost
Of everything we've lost
Bad timing that's all
Maybe soon there'll come a day
When no more tears will fall
If we each forgive a little bit
When we both look back on it
Just bad timing that's all
Lyrics -5 Days In May - Blue Rodeo

They met in a hurricane
Standing in the shelter out of the rain
She tucked a note into his hand
Later on they took his car
Drove on down where the beaches are
He wrote her name in the sand
Never even let go of her hand
Somehow they stayed that way
For those 5 days in May
Made all the stars around them shine
Funny how you can look in vain
Living on nerves and such sweet pain
The loneliness that cuts so fine
To find the face you've seen a thousand times
Sometimes the world begins
To set you up on your feet again
It wipes the tears from your eyes
How will you ever know
The way that circumstances go
Always going to hit you by surprise
I know my past
You were there
In everything I've done
You are the one
Looking back it's hard to tell
Why they stood while others fell
Spend your life working it out
All I know is one cloudy day
They both just ran away
Rain on the windshield heading South
She loved the lines around his mouth
Sometimes the world begins
To set you up on your feet again
It wipes the tears from your eyes
How will you ever know
The way that circumstances go
Always going to hit you by surprise
I know my past
You were there
In everything I've done
You are the one
Tech in Education:

The impact of technology and the use of the world wide web is seen in all areas of life whether it be industry, business or education. When we talk about education this is one area where this technology is used to such a great extend and continuing. However how effective has it been in the recent past in integrating this technology and how soon are we going to integrate the known available technology. My understanding is that most of the time materials that are up and available for K-12 education is mostly individual enterprises of people in the field.
This begs the question is the technology available too expensive to use effectively. Let's look at the investment needed for the whole process of using technology. The two major components are hardware and software. The next expensive aspect is training to get the educators trained. Togeather looking at the overall senario what we see today is there is a heavy cost involved in really integrating the newest technologies for the teaching learning process.
It is not pertinent to overlook the fact that the young people of today are more adept at using the world wide web and feel comofrtable working with them. I greatly believe that this aspect is a hook to still keep them interested in school.
